If you plan to travel this summer, you need to think about how to protect against serious injury on the highway. Motor vehicle collisions are among the most common forms of severe injury and death. The University of Tennessee Health Science Center recently conducted a study of more than 14,000 trauma victims. The study found that using both an airbag and a seatbelt leads to reduced fatality, lessens severe injury, and decreases medical costs and hospital stays. So when taking your summer vacation, buckle up and keep your airbags activated. Airbags and seatbelts are a winning combination.
For more information about this study or about The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, go to www.utmem.edu or contact Sheila Champlin at (901) 448-4957.
